2026 Windsurf & SUP Club Event Weekend – WSC

Open Training

Our Open Training Programme for junior sailors racing in recognised junior classes (Optimist, Topper, RS Feva and Techno) is designed to help sailors develop their racing skills in a fun, challenging and supportive environment.

Running from September through to the end of March, the programme provides high-quality coaching during the months when activity at home clubs may be more limited. Training is delivered at a range of clubs and venues across Scotland by experienced coaches.

Open Training is aimed at sailors who are new to racing, as well as those looking to build confidence and improve their performance. While RYA Stages are not required, sailors should be comfortable and competent on the water, including being able to:

• Sail confidently upwind
• Sail around a triangular course in medium to strong winds
• Recover from a capsize with minimal assistance

Sailors must provide their own boat or board and, with the support of a parent or guardian, transport it to and from the training venue.

Please note: To ensure we collect the correct information, helms and crew must be booked separately. All bookings must be completed by a parent or guardian.

Before You Attend

We look forward to welcoming you to Open Training. Please remember:

• Training is non-residential
• Bring your own boat or board to the venue
• Arrive rigged, changed and ready to sail
• Bring sufficient food and drink for the day
• Wear appropriate sailing clothing and bring extra layers to stay warm
• Complete any preparation work requested by your coach
• Contact the Head Coach if you have any questions
• Most importantly, have fun! 😁
