Couch to 5k is for you and it's more fun in a group!
Although you can can do Couch to 5k on your own, running with others makes it easier to stick with the plan and offers extra encouragement. Our summer Couch to 5k course takes place over six Tuesday evenings at Roding Valley Recreation Ground in Loughton.
Every Tuesday at 7pm we build our endurance, starting with a mix of walking and running. Over six weeks we gradually increase the time we spend running with the aim of participating in a parkrun (a free, informal, friendly timed run or walk) at the end of the course.
The course is hosted by Mary Johnson, a qualified Run Leader who has successfully organised many Couch to 5k and Return to Running Courses. As well as leading the sessions Mary provides advice and guidance on what you can do outside the Tuesday session to improve your fitness.
